Up jumped the Brian Williams syndrome

Exclusive: Carson claimed West Point ‘scholarship’ but never applied:

OH OH!! It looks like the good doctor Ben Carson and Brian Williams have gone to the same finishing school and may The Doc may be making his last house call as one of the republican party’s frontrunners

Some years back in a book that Dr, Carson wrote he told a tale that he was given a full scholarship to West Point with the aid of General Westmoreland whom he met at a dinner. That turns out to be a giant of a whopper.

POLITICO

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Friday conceded that he never applied nor was granted admission to West Point and attempted to recast his previous claims of a full scholarship to the military academy — despite numerous public and written statements to the contrary over the last few decades.

Story Continued Below

West Point has occupied a central place in Carson’s personal story for years. According to a tale told in his book, “Gifted Hands,” the then-17 year old was introduced in 1969 to Gen. William Westmoreland, who had just ended his command of U.S. forces in Vietnam, and the two dined together. That meeting, according to Carson’s telling, was followed by the offer of a “full scholarship” to the military academy.

West Point, however, has no record of Carson applying, much less being extended admission.

“In 1969, those who would have completed the entire process would have received their acceptance letters from the Army Adjutant General,” said Theresa Brinkerhoff, a spokeswoman for the academy. She said West Point has no records that indicate Carson even began the application process. “If he chose to pursue (the application process), then we would have records indicating such,” she said.

It really is a shame that a person of his accomplishments and successes had to get caught in a lie that may bring him down as a serious presidential contender. At the time he may have felt it was necessary to lie about his background; possibly to get attention, be accepted by his piers or just to make himself feel important. That syndrome seems to be very contagious these days.

One of the many downsides to running for political office is; if anyone has the least minute/microscopic flaw or skeleton in their closets, they will be found out. The blood hounds are out. People that are running for political office hire detective agencies to dig up any dirty that can possibly be used against one of their opponents. It is a dirty game of; I GOT YOU.

There also appears to be other issues that Carson wrote about in the book that have come back to haunt him. They do not sit too well for Carson’s future. In the book he wrote nearly 20-year ago, Carson boasted about his transformation from rage-filled boy to refined neurosurgeon; describing how he once tried to hit his mother with a hammer and attempted to stab one of his friends to death.  Those are very significant violent tendencies for a person that is SO laid back, at sometime it looks like he may need mouth to mouth.

No one can deny the man’s accomplishments in his life but the fact that these highly unusual character flaws did exist, I think they are going to take the good doctor out of the race.

In all of our lives we have a multitude for things we rather the public does not know about and a person’s life should be strictly their own business but the average Joe Blow is not running for the presidency of the USA.

Personally I think that Dr. Ben is a hell of a man who has made magnificent strides in his life; as well as being a solid patriot. Unfortunately, the Brian Williams syndrome has come to bite him in the keaster.

The media and Carson’s rivals will be doing the Tarantella on this one.

I think the best thing for Carson to do at this juncture is to lick his wounds, pack his bags and get his hat!! The troops will NEVER let this one go.

The Trumpster is looking better everyday. It has been a whole couple days since we heard him insult anyone.
