WASHINGTON – Nearly 10% of the country’s bridges – 58,495 out of 609,539 – were considered structurally deficient last year and needed repairs, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association reported Thursday.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) states that its function is to provide “economic, development and humanitarian assistance around the world in support of the foreign policy goals of the United States.” While the effectiveness of foreign aid remains up for debate, the United States recently has continued to pump around $50 billion in aid to other countries each year.

What decent father off any family would give all of their money away, some of it to his sworn enemies, while their own family is starving? Just doesn’t add up.

Stretching our imaginations; if the hand-outs we are GIVING away got  to their intended sources for humanitarian purposes, that may ease the bleeding some. That is not the case. It has been substantiated that the majority of the HAND-OUTS wind up in the hands of corrupted countries leaders.

How much can 50 billion a year do for the infrastructure of this country that is literally falling apart from the inside out?

The system is broken and the people that handle the purse strings are either oblivious – corrupt – ignorant – don’t care or all of the above.

Would they deplete their bank accounts and give it to some stranger because they want to be the GOOD GUYS? We all know the answer to that.

It is not their money – as long as their pay checks never stop coming in – as long as that never changes, nothing will change in this country.

Just like I have suggested with sports figures.  Pay politicians on performance and we would see an entirely different dance.

I guess we are going to have to wait until one of those bridges collapses and one of their family are on it for any action to be taken.
