North Korea sentences American tourist to 15 years in prison with hard labor
It have always been of the opinion, although I didn’t follow my own advice many times; don’t go here you don’t belong.
In a one hour trial, Otto Warmbier a University of Virginia undergraduate was convicted by North Korea’s supreme court of some trumped up charge and given 15 years at hard labor.
In places like North Korea; hard labor, especially to an American, means hard labor. In many of this type of prison, some prisoner are lucky to get out alive.
Through his ignorance, Marmbeir tried to steal a propaganda banner as a trophy for a female acquaintance of his. That is what he was arrested for.
People have to remember that different countries play by a different set of rules. When in Rome, do like the Romans do!!! We have to learn to respect the county’s rules we are visiting.
I have seen it many times where Americans come off as very arrogant in foreign countries and that really pisses off the locals. Can’t say I blame them.
If this same incident would have happened to a North Korean student in the USA; they would have been given a free all inclusive weeks stay at the 4 Seasons and a ticket back to the Mother Land or maybe permanent citizenship.
