The Dirty Dozen + 1 – Principles without principles

Bribery charges against 13 Detroit principals a ‘punch in the gut’

The Motor City doesn’t have enough under it’s hood let alone another huge scandal brewing with 13 of it’s school principles. I will dub them, The Dirty Dozen + 1 and principles without principles.

(CNN)

Thirteen current or former principals with the Detroit Public Schools system were charged with bribery Tuesday in an alleged kickback scheme, which couldn’t have come at a worse time for the troubled school district.

It is not like these thieves are under paid; they make approximately $97,000 a year. Not bad in any field.

 In the sting, DPS vendor Norman Shy, 74, owner of Allstate Sales — was charged. He is accused of being at the center of the criminal activity.

Shy paid bribes and kickbacks to principals so they would allow their schools to be charged for supplies that were never delivered. Just think of all the kids that went without eating while these hogs were stuffing their mouths.
 These principal’s without principles were no petty crooks. According to Shy he paid the the Dirty Dozen +1 a total of  $900,000 or more. His billed the school system  $5 million, of which officials believe $2.7 million was fraudulent that the Dirty Dozen + 1 chopped up between them.
The bribery is said to have started in 2002 and continued until January 2015.
This had to be a pretty well organized theft ring to get all of the Dirty Dozen + 1 to go in on the scheme.  It is a highly unusual situation to get all 13 thieves to agree to the theft.
The real victims in a case like this, of course, are the students and the families who attend Detroit Public Schools — the teachers, the educators who really want to make a difference in the lives of Detroit Public School children, said U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan Barbara McQuade.  A case like this is a real punch in the gut for those who are trying to do the right thing.

‘Cannot overstate the outrage’

Of the 13 Detroit Public School officials charged, seven are former school principals; six are still working in that capacity. One of the former principals is now an assistant superintendent. Thieves in high places. But we are used to that; aren’t we?????
Recently, through The Ellen DeGeneres program, Lowes donated 500 big ones to the school system for maintenance and repairs. Lordy – Lordy; only he and the Dirty Dozen + 1 knows where that soldi ended up.  I have a good guess.
I am constantly pressing and stressing EDUCATION for the younger kids in this world to put them on the right track in life. If the educators are not setting the right example, who is????
We all have heard of the Hall of Fame – this is the WALL OF SHAME.

1. Norman Shy (vendor), 74, of Franklin, and Clara Flowers, 61, of Detroit; Flowers is the former principal of Henderson Academy and current assistant superintendent of DPS’ Office of Specialized Student Services. Additionally, Shy and Flowers were each charged with one count of tax evasion for failing to report income.

2. Beverly Campbell, 66, of Southfield ($50,000), former principal of Rosa Parks School and Greenfield Union Elementary-Middle School;

3. Clara Smith, 67, of Southfield ($194,000), current principal of Thirkell Elementary-Middle School;

4. Germla Johnson, 56, of Detroit ($22,884), former principal of Charles R. Drew Academy and current principal of Earhart Elementary-Middle School;

13. Willye Pearsall, 65, of Warren ($50,000), former principal of Thurgood Marshall Elementary School

As we can see by the list of names, there are also several female thieves tied up in the bunch. In the OLD DAYS most crimes were committed by the male end of the population. In these here modern times with women’s right and all, I guess they want equal time and recognition.

I hope the Dirty Dozen + 1 gets what they have coming to them and the courts make an example of them.  By the looks of it, they have all exceeded the limits for a misdemeanor crime and all will be charged with a felony.

Somebody better take the bull by the horns and steer or kids in the right direction. It appears in many homes around the country the parents are certainly piss poor examples. Now in some schools the kids are being taught by professional thieves.

It is just like with the dirty  cops and priests. There are a few bad apples in the barrels that put a stigma on the rest of them.

What a shame that the kids have role models like this to look up to. A role model that is good or one that is bad is still a role model.

Commander and Chief
