Police officers guard home of deputy assigned to Florida HS who ‘never went in’ during shooting

Several Palm Beach County, Fla., police officers are guarding the home of the former school resource deputy who stayed outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as last week’s massacre unfolded, Fox’s WSVN-TV reported.

Deputy Scot Peterson, of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, was armed and stationed on the school’s campus when a suspect identified by authorities as Nikolas Cruz opened fire with an AR-15 rifle, leaving 17 people dead and others wounded.

Peterson resigned Thursday after video surveillance showed he never entered the school, even though he “clearly” knew there was a shooting taking place, officials said. The revelation prompted widespread outrage.

I do agree and also disagree with PDT.

EXAMPLE: I know 100’s of BLACK BELTS in the martial arts that could not protect themselves or any one else if the Boggie Man came knocking.  It is one thing knowing the moves/techniques for self-defense and another implementing them and the guts to use them.

A hypothetically guess; I would estimate that out of 100 armed teachers who went through all of the necessary training to carry a weapon, maybe 60% of them or less would heave the nerve to pull the trigger and use it effectively if and when the time ever came.

There are a good percentage of cops and security guards out there that want the glory of wearing the blues, carrying a pistola and flashing the badge, BUTT when it come to answering THE BELL when it rings, they crawl under the bed and hide.

I don’t have a problem with people that are afraid of violence, BUTT I do have a problem with pretenders and wane-bees.  It takes a special person to put their life on the line to defend the laws.  We DO NOT give our cops enough credit for the great job they do.

If the coward Peterson would have acted appropriately as he should have, it could have meant a lot less causalities. I don’t think there is a penalty for being a coward, BUTT I know there is one for dereliction of duty.  He may even qualify for being an accessory to the killings????
