I remember one case years back where some serial killer delayed his execution for years, because he said the needle they used to inject him maybe contaminated. The sons-a-bitch was going to die anyway, so what was the difference.

IFFF; they knew that very night they were found guilty, they would be executed, that would make a definite impact on their decision making and possibly think twice before committing the crime.
