I would say the statement from Harry Truman the president from the SHOW ME STATE is about as accurate as it can get and encompasses at least 90% of the office holders.
Many of them walked in the front door with holes in their shoes and six months later walked out the back door to an awaiting limousine.
What other reason would there be for someone to spend $5 or 10 million campaigning for office when they are only making 170,000$ a year?? The rewards for politicians are enormous.
