LA mayor pleads for wealthy to help buy housing for the homeless: ‘Unprecedented partnership’
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass said the new campaign, LA4LA, would depend on the ‘humanity and generosity of the private sector’
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass pleaded with “the most fortunate” to help fund housing for the homeless as part of a new strategy to tackle the crisis during her State of the City address on Monday.
Bass touted the success of her signature Inside Safe program, which moved over 21,000 homeless people into temporary shelters, according to The Associated Press. She insisted this “strategy” and “system” moving the homeless into temporary housing would eventually end the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.
She is dead wrong. Education and hard work are the only roads to success.
Give a man a fish he eats for one day – give that same man a fishing rod, teach him how to use it and he will eat for life.
I will grant you that there are numerous people who are homeless for a very good reason, they are the ones that need financial support. On the other hand, there are 1,000,000 of homeless because that is their choice and chosen way of life. They do not want to work.
With all of the trillions of dollars this country passes away, they should set aside a good amount of that on education and work programs to get these people off the street. Have them earn their keep. Give the man a fish he eats for one day give that same man a fishing rod, teach him how to use it and he will eat for the rest of his life.
I would think by now our government would have caught on to the fact that aiding and abetting people is very counter-productive. By spoon feeding them all they’re doing is creating lethargic monsters that want to be supported for the rest of their life.
Educating and teaching people how to be self-sufficient requires a lot of work (something our politicians hate), whereas handing them a fruit basket once a week with hundreds of dollars is just creates a lethargic, worthless parasites.
This country is in such bad shape in every category that I believe it is impossible to bring it back to the greatness it once was.
It has become a very bad habit of our politicians; when in a predicament to print more money and raise taxes than it is to put some effort into educating our population. They always take the easy way out.

Read the similarities; they are astounding. For all intents and purposes, the Roman Empire was much bigger than the United States, and it went down the tubes because of its mismanagement and arrogance, Corrupt politicians, and inability to control its government properly. The exact same route the United States is taking.
Problems are never solved by ignoring them or pouring gasoline on the fire. Problems are resolved with hard work, education, and stick to it evenness.
In my opinion, the USA is in its worst shape and history, and I don’t see much of a resolution at any level. We have gone past the point of no return and regardless of who gets elected to the presidency, these metaphorical mountains are two steep to climb.
Building homes for the homeless is the wrong direction to go. Spend that money on education and provide them with jobs to teach them responsibility. Needless to say there is a lot of trash to pick up on city streets, a lot of buildings to be painted in the inner-city, (a lot of grass to be cut not smoked) and countless other areas the need attention.
City officials would rather walk through it or around it than pick it up.
As foolish as this may sound, after these people get into the groove of working for their keep, they will feel proud and better about themselves. But that is only wishful thinking.
Give them a fishing rod, teach them how to use it, and they will eat for life.
