Japan with dignity

THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN:

Japan is a country to be admired. Throughout its history it has had a multitude of natural and manmade disasters to overcome.

The Japanese are very hardworking people dedicated to their country and their causes.

I spent two years in the Far East in the early 1960’s. Before arriving there I heard all of the WW II horror stories about how underhanded and deceitful their people were. I found that to be the just the contrary. They are very courteous, humble and disciplined people.

During WW II the majority of Japan’s major cities were totally destroyed with the exception of Kyoto. With their discipline and determination it took about 12 years for their very industrious people to rebuild their cities and infrastructures. Most of it done without See the before and after pictures.

Tokyo went from complete destruction to a totally rebuilt state of the art city.  It has the world’s most populous metropolitan area with a population of about 35 million people. It is the world’s largest metropolitan economy, housing 47 of the Fortune Global 500 companies.

Then came March 11 2011; mother nature once again tested Japans resilience when a seventy-five foot wall if water bashed onto their shores washing away building, cars, trees and devastated anything in its  path.

When the water finally receded and washed back to the Pacific Ocean the body count was 16,000 dead and over 3,000 unaccounted for. Fukushima and it surrounding areas were completely obliterated.

What separates Japan and its people from most other countries; it is their work ethic and discipline. After they wipe away their tears following each catastrophe they roll up their sleeves and make things happen. They don’t sit around feeling sorry for themselves.

It is always been my belief; the tougher a person is brought up the more they appreciate what they have and the harder they work. People that have had life too easy tend to want everything handed to them.

In a nut shell; Japan and its people have a lot to be proud of for all they have accomplished when the chips were down.

I think that the American government should take a look at the way the Japanese government operates and maybe we could pick up a few pointers. Is Japan perfect, no, but they seem to be a step or two in-front of the of most of the other countries.

すべての日本人に将来的には最高の願い
