NYC Rep. Charles Rangel formally announces he’ll run for 22nd term in Congress:

This is almost a joke that a person with the track record that Charlie has is allowed to run for office, let alone stay in office after being convicted of 11 ethics charges.

At the end of 2010, Rangel, a Democrat, was convicted of 11 ethics violations. The charges include failure to pay some taxes and using congressional resources to raise money for an academic center bearing his name. He was censured by the House last year; that’s the most serious congressional penalty short of expulsion.

Why doesn’t every criminal that pulls the kind of shots Charlie has just get their “ass chewed out” and then turn them loose with no time served so they can do it again? In essence that is the meaning of censured. The average citizen would have done 10 years if they committed the same crime.

The following is a quote from Al Sharpton concerning Rangel:

Sharpton, a key ally in helping the White House and national Democrats mobilize black voters this year, expressed worry that the simultaneous ethics charges against Waters and U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel (D., N.Y.) could hurt that effort. He did not blame the Democratic leadership or Republicans per se, but Sharpton suggested that the investigations might be designed to undermine black Americans’ confidence in their elected leaders.

A crime should a crime no matter what color you are or how many zeros your daddy has in his bank account. Shouldn’t a person that commits a crime be judged as a criminal by their own community as well as everyone else?

Let’s face it; the only time in the history of this country where race is not going to be an issue; if it ever happens is when people both black and white quit bringing it up every time their back is against the wall.

If you do the crime you should do the time. Leave all of the deals outside of the court room.

I remember way back when; if a person was even divorced they better forget about running for any type of political position. What happened to all the “old school” values that made out country strong?
