SAINTS COACH SEAN PAYTON SUSPENDED FOR BOUNTIES:
Per a league source, head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for the full year.
The discipline comes more than two weeks after the NFL concluded that the Saints maintained in 2009, 2010, and 2011 a system that paid defensive players for forced turnovers, big plays, and (most troublingly) hits that knocked opposing players out of the game.
This is the mentality of some of the inadequate coaches at all levels of sport today. It is not to teach the players to play hard and do their best but it is to put your opponent in the hospital for a few weeks to keep them out of the game. The head hunters reward is a steak at the Brown Derby and a fifty dollar bill for their efforts. It is all about the trophy even if it means to disable someone.
Society is always trying to figure out why some of the young kids today are so violent. It is because this is what they are taught. Sports in general are rough environments and should be played hard. A person does not have to be a head hunter or a killer to be good in athletics; the majority of them are not.
There are a lot of horror stories out there that some parents have to live with because the player that took their kid out in a play was instructed by his coaches to “destroy” the other team.
Definition of sport:
a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
b. A particular form of this activity.
2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
3. An active pastime; recreation.
4. Learn sportsmen like conduct.
Some things will never change but I am glad to see that some disciplinary action is taken against some of these “cloths line” coaches.
The only thing that registers with some people is when it effects their bank account.
