We went out tonight looking for a Sub Shop hoping that Quizno’s was still on Rt. 306 and Mentor Ave. Well let me tell you, I am very glad that they pulled up “steaks”.

Sometime back I remember seeing a sub shop next to a Chinese restaurant we used to go to. I found it with no problem.

When we pulled  into the Sub Shop parking lot I saw a big sign in the window, “BEST SUB IN TOWN”. I said to my bride “Yeah sure, they all bullshit”.

Every place you go now a day, they advertise either, the world’s best, world’s finest, world’s biggest, world’s fanciest, world’s tallest or some other exaggerated slogan to get customers in the door.

Being a very bashful guy, I did comment to the two guys working there when I went into the place, “yeah another world’s best”.

The guy with that had more hair on his face then he did on his head was on the shy side too and he told me if I ordered something insignificant I could turn around and walk out. That is the kind of ball busting I like, as long as they can back it up.

The guy sitting at a table working with a mini computer told me, “Once you have a sub here you won’t go anywhere else”. Naturally I told him that remained to be seen.

I like positive people and those who communicate well. These two guys were good.

I ordered an Italian sub and my bride ordered a Philly Steak sandwich. Neither of us were disappointed. They were excellent and probably the best subs we ever ate.

I ordered a 14” sub and only ate ¾ of it. For a guy that could eat a pound of Spaggs and 12 meat balls that sub was saying something.

The guy with the hair on his face did a hell of a job making the master piece and his sidekick at the table did a very good job promoting Tommy’s Sub Shop.

I would highly recommend chowing down at Tommy’s to anyone, especially someone that has a big appetite.

My cappello is off to Tommy and his crew. They have a very good thing going there and like General Mc Arthur “I will return”.

By the way; they use Orlando’s bread – the best in the country
