Company previously known as Blackwater agrees to $7.5 million fine in arms smuggling case:
Academi LLC, previously known as Blackwater are some very dangerous people when it comes to their where their loyalties stand. They were fined again and agreed to pay the $ 7.5 million dollar fine as part of a deferred prosecution agreement to settle 17 violations.
Just a few of the violations includes possessing automatic weapons in the United States without registration, lying to federal firearms regulators about weapons provided to the king of Jordan, passing secret plans for armored personnel carriers to Sweden and Denmark without U.S. government approval and illegally shipping body armor overseas. All of these allegations may raise the questions as to whose side the mercenary company is on.
The fines they are paying are “just the skins off of the potatoes”. They made billions of dollars in the Middle East wars off of the USA and a vast majority of their contracts had no other bidders. Here we go again. Who is on the other side filling their box car full of kickback money?
I couldn’t even try to put a dollar amount on to how much money has been made in these wars illegally by different factions. It has to be in the billions.
The ironic part in this whole scenario is that they do not have to cheat, falsify billing or any other shady transactions; they are making billions anyway. When it comes to the green backs it is never enough for some people.
They figured if they kept changing their name they would get lost in the shuffle. The company changed its name to Xe before being sold in 2011, becoming Academi.
In 2010, the company reached a $42 million settlement with the Department of State as part of a settlement of violations of the Arms Export Control Act and the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations.
This latest settlement Academi made with the government was just like the rest of them. The paid the fine to keep the charges out of the courts; with the understanding that they would; like a child; “Behave themselves”. Time out and I won’t tell your father when he comes home from work.
Needless to say Blackwater/Xe/Acaademi marginalized their arrangement with the government. Why would they live by their agreements if the only punishment they got was a slap on the wrist and a promise they would be given another 3 billion dollar project they don’t have to bid on??
Like Donald King would say “Only in America”.
