Supreme Court To Hear Campaign Finance Donation Limit Challenge:
This monumental decision should take these old folks about 3 years to decide on. After their wheel chairs are bolted down to the floor so it doesn’t roll down the aisle and they get their oxygen masks hooked up it will be time for a recess. Some of these justices are older than black pepper.
I have nothing against older people but a person has to know when it is time to have their drivers license taken away. Get the drift??
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court will hear a challenge to campaign finance laws limiting how much an individual can give to political campaigns.
The justices on Tuesday decided to hear an appeal from Shaun McCutcheon of Alabama and the Republican National Committee. They are arguing that it’s unconstitutional to stop a donor from giving more than $46,200 to political candidates and $70,800 to political committees and PACs.
For all intents and purposes we can safely say that the majority of the people that are elected today, whether it is city, state, country, federal; their offices are bought and won by the person that can shake the money tree harder than their opponent.
As we all should know, a person “should be” elected by their merits instead of how much money they can generate. I guess that is a fact of life in this country and there is no way around it; just ask some of the people that were elected recently.
Newsmax put a price tag on the 2012 election: $8 Billion. Is that insane or what.
Now the justices will attempt to put a ceiling on the donations to try and keep it fair. Helloooooooooooooooo. There is nothing fair about politics.
As a point of interest and an opinion; there should never be position that any person is appointed to “For Life” as the Supreme Justices are anointed with. The maximum term should be no longer than 5 years.
What gives the person the incentive to “hussle” if they know they can never be fired or they have to do a good job to get re-elected????
I will bring that up at their next session to see if they would like to take a vote on this issue. It may take a few months to get an answer.
It’s the “Golden Rule”. He who has the gold rules.
