There is another player in the game- the ante is going up

China mobilizing troops, jets near N. Korean border, US officials say:

This North Korean situation may not be the “easy touch” as some people are lead to believe. The Chinese connection makes it an entirely ball game.

chinaNow it appears that the “sleeping giant” China has big a stake in this poker game between North Korea and the rest of the world, mainly the USA.

According to the officials, the Chinese PLA (Peoples Liberation Army) has stepped up military mobilization in the border region with North Korea since mid-March, including troop movements and warplane activity.

China’s navy also conducted live-firing naval drills by warships in the Yellow Sea that were set to end Monday near the Korean peninsula, in apparent support of North Korea, which was angered by ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills that are set to continue throughout April.

I blogged months ago that China didn’t recently build one of the biggest aircraft carrier in the world for nothing.

I would like to think that the honchos in DC are watching these developments closely but can we really be sure of that based on what they are doing or not doing these days?

As of April 2012 these are the top 10 countries that the USA is up to it’s eye balls in debt to. In 2013 the dollar amount is significantly higher.

1. China, Mainland, $1153.6 billion dollars
2. Japan, $1121.5 billion dollars
3. Oil Exporters*, $263.0 billion dollars
4. Carib Bnkng Ctrs**, $256.9 billion dollars
5. Brazil, $253.9 billion dollars
6. All Other, $226.8 billion dollars
7. Switzerland, $202.2 billion dollars
8. Taiwan, $198.0 billion dollars
9. United Kingdom, $153.6 billion dollars
10. Russia, $153.3 billion dollars

What better excuse does a country like China need to start a war than to collect a debt owed to them by another country that isn’t making any attempt to pay them back? The North Korean situation may be the catalyst they need to cross the pond and collect what they are owed.

When is the best time to attack your opponent but at their weakest moment. Never say never; stranger things have happened.

This is not the time for the USA to be cutting its military spending.
