Ex-congressman says he’s ‘given up on America’ after sentenced for 3rd conviction
EX-CONGRESSMAN Mel Reynolds, 66, got six months in prison for failing to file tax returns on more than $400,000 he received for consulting work.

Along with his sentence, he received a good ass chewing from the Judge Robert Gettleman, who told the Reynolds he could recall thinking to himself in the early 1990s that Reynolds had tremendous promise.
“It’s a tragedy that you squandered the opportunities you had and the type of person you could have become,” Gettleman said.
In addition to not paying his proper taxes, in 1995 Reynolds was convicted of statutory rape for having sex with a 16-year-old campaign worker. Later, he was convicted of concealing debts and diverting money meant for voter registration drives into his election campaign.
“To put me in jail serves what purpose?” he asked the judge. “To teach me a lesson? … I’ve been taught about this racist society … every day of my life.”
“I’m going home to Africa,” he said. “I’ve given up on America because how long do African-Americans put up with this nonsense?”
What the hell does raping a 16 year old girl, stealing money from campaign contributions and not paying taxes have to do with racism??
It is so sad that SOME black people STILL feel the need to use the race card when their back is against the wall. No crime, no time.
Before he buys his ticket to Africa, he might want to call cousin Sammy that seems to have missed his flight after the election.
