Johns Hopkins DEI office issues ‘privilege’ list in company newsletter, apologizes after backlash
Those with ‘privilege’ according to newsletter included men, Christians, ‘English-speaking people’
The @EndWokeness X account released an unearthed newsletter from Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Sherita H. Golden on the January 2024 issue of Monthly Diversity Digest. The message included “privilege” as the “Diversity Word of the Month” along with a series of descriptions considered “privileged.”
She continued, “In the United States, privilege is granted to people who have membership in one or more of these social identity groups: White people, able-bodied people, heterosexuals, cisgender people, males, Christians, middle or owning class people, middle-aged people, and English-speaking people.”
English speaking people?? That involves about 18% of the world’s population. Pretty broad stament to make.
If the doctor (of what I do not know) was doing her job properly and responsibly she would not have made a such a hateful statement, then apologize 10 minutes later. Her mea culpa is meaningless.
This old broad may be partially right, but there is a caveat to that statement. A very high percentage of “privileged” people I know have worked very hard to attain that status.
I agree there are many privileged people who have attained success when their rich uncle died and left them a fortune, but that is far between.
There is a certain element of people (professional instigators) who are not satisfied with maintaining harmony; they are always stirring the shit pot and attempting to piss off their people.
Invariably, many of these professional instigators are well-off people with high positions$ in life and are not subjectd to the issues they are spouting off about.
For the most part, privilege is something earned through hard work and dedication, not reparation or a free handout. In my opinion, if these instigators would focus more on their people getting EDUCATED, somewhere down the line, their are people will also be privileged.
Golden is supposed to be the chief of diversity at her school; she sure as hell is going about it the wrong way.
Why is it that fools like the good doctor always retract their statements 10 minutes after they spill their guts?? They know what they are saying at the time but want to plant that seed of hatred. They are like the coward who starts a fight then runs away when the shit hits the fan
It is the same a judge saying, “let that be stricken from the records”, the statement was already made, and the seed was planted.
If the hate mongers on both sides of the fence would spend more time and effort in educating (our future leaders) kids in the proper manner as they do stirring the shit pot, we would see a much more tranquil and harmonious society.
Combine education with respect; they are the keys for people learning to live a productive and responsible life. Stirring the pot only makes it stink more.
If society made a concerted effort to turn things around (I don’t think we will ever see it), it would probably take 50 to 100 years before the goals could be reached. Unfortunately I don’t ever see it happening; the hatred in this country is too deep seated.
But we should give up trying to do the right thing.
