Two heros with dummy bosses

Managements needs new management:

Florida lifeguard Tomas Lopez was fired after he tried to save a man’s life — an example of how a company’s fear of liability can sometimes make waves and backfire.

Lopez, 21, was hired by Jeff Ellis Management to patrol a portion of a public beach in Hallandale Beach, Fla.. Tomas witnessed a lady in distress in the water but she was outside the limits of where he was supposed to patrol.

Doing what he was trained for the heroic lifeguard jumped into the water and swam to the drowning lady pulling her to safety.

Lopez’s reward for his act of heroism was to be fired by the company he worked for. Reason being; he went outside of his jurisdiction with his rescue.

Needless to say the word of his unselfish act soon hit the airwaves and the backlash against Jeff Ellis Management was enormous.

Naturally; after the fact, Lopez was offered his job back but refused to go back to work for the same idiot. I really don’t blame him.

I wonder if it would have made a difference if the person that was downing was a family member of the guy that fired him? You never know; to some dummies rules are rules.

I can just see the headlines if Lopez  would have let that lady die. “Life guard let lady drowned because she was outside of his designated area”.

Another set of dummies:

Fran Cheney, Philadelphia Firefighter, Donates Overtime Pay To Family Of Rescued Woman

Firefighter Fran Cheney arrived at the home of Mary Jackson on Engine 61 as it was being engulfed in flames. Mary’s brother was outside screaming that his sister was still inside. Cheney went in and heard her screaming on the second floor, and described her as “just smoky, heaving, trying to catch her breath. I mean it was just, you could hear it, she was in distress.”

With little concern for his own safety Fran the Firefighter took a deep breath, took off his oxygen mask and placed it over the Mary Jackson’s face that was trapped in the burning house and carried her to safety.

According to Fox Philadelphia, “the fire department will investigate to determine if proper procedures were followed when Cheney put his mask on a victim.”

Just saving the ladies life was Fran’s first unselfish act; to put the icing on the cake Fran the fire guy gave the Mary $ 500.00 of his own money so she could get back on her feet. What a class act Fran is!

Do these Ensteins’ really know just how ridiculous they sound wanting to discipline two guys for saving lives just because that is not what the rule book says? ?

Here were are again. If it were a family member of the dummies that are looking to chastise Fran for his act of heroism, would they still take the same position? I really can’t answer that. After all; if that is what the rule book says they just might.

I wonder if either party ever considered that fact that common sense comes into play many more times than what is written in a rule book ?

Both the firefighter and the lifeguard should be highly commended for their acts of heroism.
