Loss of water pressure reported across New Orleans:
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Wide spread loss of water pressure was reported Sunday morning in New Orleans, and the city is advising residents in a large swath of the city to boil their water.
The dropping of water pressure is sometimes an indicator of sink hole developing.
A water main or connection will get a leak in it because of a crack in old pipe or a joint came out of its connection. The water will keep running until it finds an outlet, most likely in a defective sewer line that could have been caused by the water leak.
In the meantime, all of the water that has been running under pressure eventually creates a void because it has eroded the soil. The void gets bigger and bigger and eventually collapses into itself like a black-hole in outer space. Whatever is above the void collapses into it.
Don’t stand in one place too long.
